KILONOVA

Three connected timepieces honouring the source of all gold in the universe

Kilonova: Orbit is the first in a trilogy of timepieces celebrating the cosmic events that create all the gold in the universe. Its ultra-black dial absorbs 99.4% of visible light, providing a void-like backdrop. This allows the polished brass circles to appear to float as they orbit each via a uniquely engineered mechanism that eliminates crossing hand-stems.

Limited to just 50 hand-built units made in Melbourne, Australia, each timepiece is made to order and fitted with your choice of Swiss mechanical movements visible through an exhibition case-back.

Striking Design

Tones of black and gold emphasise dramatic contrast.

The unique hand design provides for a completely hidden hour hand operation, providing an illusion of a floating orb, allowing the hands to orbit without overlapping hand stems.

Floating Hand

Unlike traditional timepieces, where the hands are plainly visible over a main dial - Kilonova: Orbit plays with your perceptions. The central minute hand functions as normal, however the hour hand appears to float across the dial of the watch, transporting a split circle marker in an orbit, including traveling below the raised Nadeau lettering.

Swiss Movement

The timepiece is be fitted with your choice of Swiss made movement, viewable through the exhibition case back.

Colour-In-Motion

Where intricate gears and vibrant hues meet to create a bold spectacle.

Each Colour-In-Motion movement is disassembled and customised in-house and displays a vibrant NASA space image etched onto the movement.

Ultra Black

A special ultra-black coating absorbs 99.4% of visible light.

Sapphire Crystal

Durable sapphire crystal on the case front protects against scratches and cracks.

A Kilonova Event

Seen by astronomers as a bright blast of electromagnetic radiation - a Kilonova occurs when two super-dense objects collide, such as two neutron stars or a neutron star and a black hole.

The objects first begin orbiting each other, being pulled closer and closer together. They then collide in a huge explosion so violent that it forges the heaviest materials in the universe, including gold and platinum - radiating x-rays through the universe in what is referred to as the afterglow.
